How long has the British Council been giving training opportunities to teachers in Cyprus? 84 years!
The first recorded training opportunities for teachers was in 1936 when the British Council (then British Institute) was offering “grant of Bursaries for Student Teachers of English” and Cyprus was first included in those grants. The first reports for teacher training in Cyprus dates back to 1943. But reports of lectures can also be found on new methodologies of teaching English.
We have also been involved in summer Schools for teachers, conferences on different subjects and IATEFL events dating back to the 1990s. More recently, we have organized lectures and training seminars by our trained presenters on Special Education, IELTS, Cambridge English, Cambridge IGCSEs and ICT Starters.
But training opportunities for teachers by the British Council are always available. Through our worldwide network teachers from Cyprus can also participate on online webinars, courses and events taking place around the world and organized by the British Council.
