Those were the days when IELTS would only be taken only on a paper format. We have always worked on delivering IELTS using the best of technology to help test takers get the best experience of the test.

Back in August 2008, the British Council in Cyprus deployed for the first time infrared wireless headsets for the IELTS Listening test. The infrared wireless headsets allowed candidates to focus better, adjust volume and experience excellent playback quality.

And since May 2019, test takers have the choice to take IELTS on a computer in Nicosia or Limassol. There are more dates available for computer delivered IELTS and results are released faster, typically between five to seven days after the test. The test content, timing and structure remains the same in both paper and computer delivered and the speaking test remains face-to-face with a certified IELTS Examiner.

Whether test takers take IELTS on paper or computer, they can be confident that they are taking the same trusted English language test. What will come next for IELTS delivered by the British Council in the future?
