Access to the British Council offices in Nicosia

GETTING HERE

The British Council in Cyprus is located in a converted townhouse in the old city of Nicosia. Solomou square (the central bus station in Nicosia) is 500m away.

DROP OFF      

The nearest car or taxi drop-off point is behind Tripiotis church on Solonos Street. This drop-off point is 100m. from the British Council's main entrance although the pavement is very narrow.

PARKING      

The British Council in Cyprus does not have a car park. The nearest public car park, Solonos car park, is 50m away. It is pay-and-display. Click here for more information and a map to the car park.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE

MAIN ENTRANCE   

Step-free access to the British Council is provided via the main entrance on Aristotelous Street. The main door is accessible to wheelchair and pushchair users.

 

INSIDE THE BUILDING

SECURITY CHECK

As you enter the building you will need to go through a security check. This might involve you and your bag being checked.

If you have any concerns about the security check, please contact us before your visit.

RECEPTION

There is a customer service desk inside the main entrance. Our staff will be happy to help if you require any assistance.

 

BUILDING OVERVIEW

The ground and first floors of the British Council in Cyrpus some wide level corridors accessible to visitors using wheelchairs. The second floor of the building has steps up and down, for which there are no ramps. 

MEETING ROOMS

There are accessible meeting rooms on the ground and first floors that can be accessed by a visitor using a wheelchair.

LIFT AND STAIRS  

You can reach the first and second floors by lift or stairs. 

The lift door width is 80cm and the buttons are within 110cm of the floor.

The lift does not have Braille buttons.

The stairs have a handrail  on the left hand side until the first floor and then on each side until the second floor.

Please contact us before your visit if you think the lift will be unsuitable for you so that we can make alternative arrangements. 

ACCESSIBLE TOILET

There is an accessible toilet on the first floor. It is suitable for people using wheelchairs.

The width of the toilet door is 87cm. The door opens outwards.
